Description
"One of the temples at the Citadel, Hue, S. Vietnam. I did the drawing in pencil and watercolor (Windsor & Newton) and then went over it with crowquill pen using sepia ink. I remember seeing Marines firing over a wall somewhere near here at NVA dug in inside the Citadel, Tet, 1968. The city was blown to bits. The firing was extremely heavy. The Marines would shoot for a while, holding their rifles way up above their heads, and then eat some c-rations and then go back to shooting. A Sgt. asked for volunteers to go to the next wall and nobody responded. Finally he went himself and then two Marines followed. They were all 3 killed. Sorry to go on like this. It is still extremely vivid to me. Like it was last week. - James Noel Smith
Moleskine Medium
Sketches of SE Asia in my Moleskine Large Watercolor Book with pencil, watercolor and sepia ink. Which I LOVE by the way. Really nice paper.
