In order to be lightweight the Volant Series replaced the traditional rigid book cover of the hardcover Moleskine notebooks for a thin flexible soft cover, in addition it shed the elastic closure, placeholder, and expandable accordion pocket in the back.
Each Moleskine notebook includes a short history of the legendary Moleskine notebook (printed in English, Italian, French, Spanish, German and Japanese) found inserted inside the back cover of the book.
